Collagen is a key protein that provides structural support for your skin. As you age, cells produce less collagen, leading to skin laxity, lines and wrinkles, and dullness. Microneedling provides powerful skin rejuvenation by triggering new collagen development. This treatment gives you firmer, more youthful-looking skin with as little as one session.
What is Microneedling for Skin Rejuvenation?
Microneedling is an aesthetic procedure that triggers collagen production. Tiny needles create channels in the skin. These channels stimulate the body’s natural healing response, leading to the production of new collagen. The result is smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin. Microneedling can address a wide range of skin concerns, including fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, uneven skin texture, and enlarged pores.

How Does Microneedling Work?
Microneedling works by creating controlled micro-injuries in the skin. This controlled injury triggers intensive collagen production. Dr. Farole uses the INTRAcel Pro™ RF microneedling system. It combines microneedling with radiofrequency technology to make it even more effective. The device uses ultra-fine needles to create channels in the skin while delivering radiofrequency energy. This RF energy triggers cells deep in the dermis to increase their collagen production for more dramatic results.
What to Do After Microneedling
After microneedling, it is important to follow a proper skincare routine to help the skin heal and achieve optimal results. Dr. Farole will provide you with detailed instructions on how to care for your skin, including:
- Avoiding sun exposure for at least 24 hours after the procedure
- Using a gentle cleanser and moisturizer
- Applying a topical serum or cream to help soothe the skin and promote healing
- Avoiding makeup for at least 24 hours after the procedure
- Using sunscreen daily to protect the skin from UV damage
During the few days after microneedling, your skin can absorb and benefit from a range of serums and other treatments, allowing them to penetrate more deeply. Ask your aesthetics expert about recommended skincare products.
What Can Microneedling Treat?
Microneedling can treat a wide range of skin concerns, including:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Acne scars
- Hyperpigmentation
- Uneven skin texture
- Enlarged pores
- Sagging skin
- Stretch marks
Dr. Farole recommends one to three microneedling treatments spaced six to eight weeks apart. Most people have a maintenance treatment every one to two years, depending on how fast your skin ages. You can prolong your microneedling effects with good skincare and sun protection.
Is There Any Downtime With Microneedling?
Microneedling is a non-invasive procedure that typically requires little to no downtime. Immediately after the procedure, you may experience some redness and mild swelling, but these side effects usually subside within a few hours to a few days. Most patients can resume their normal activities immediately after the procedure.
Am I a Good Candidate for Microneedling Skin Rejuvenation?
Unlike many lasers, microneedling is safe for all skin types and tones. Good candidates for microneedling want to address the effects of collagen loss. You may not be a good candidate if you have a skin infection or a tendency to form keloid scars.
