The Plasma IQ™ can firm and tighten skin, reduce lines and wrinkles, minimize scarring, and even treat benign skin markings using an ionized gas.
What is Plasma IQ™?
The Plasma IQ™ uses plasma, an ionized gas, to create microdamage to the skin and trigger its natural healing processes. It also triggers the production of collagen, which improves the firmness and natural support structure of the skin. This FDA-cleared device has been labeled both safe and effective.
How Does Plasma IQ™ Work?
The Plasma IQ™ has an energized electrode tip. As this tip is brought close to the skin, it ionizes the gas between the electrode and the skin, creating an arc. The energy from this arc causes sublimation, turning the outer layers of the epidermis into a gas. Because the tip remains very close to the skin, this controlled damage remains limited to the targeted area.
This treatment causes the damaged areas of the skin to tighten immediately as they initiate the healing process. It will also penetrate deeper into the skin to trigger the production of collagen, building the skin’s support network and improving its firmness and texture. It can also treat benign skin conditions such as moles, warts, and skin tags.

What is Plasma IQ™ Treatment Like?
Depending on your skin concerns and the treatment area, your provider will choose whether to use the lower (650 volts) or higher (950 V) setting. They will also adjust the proximity of the tip to the skin, making this treatment highly customizable for your safety and comfort. A numbing cream is applied prior to treatment, preventing you from feeling discomfort during the treatment. The device will target evenly spaced areas of skin to trigger skin tightening while minimizing downtime.
What Results Will I See With Plasma IQ™?
Because the treated areas contract immediately, you will see a tightening of the skin right after treatment. Your skin will become even tighter and more resilient over the following weeks and months as the skin cells produce more collagen. You will see a reduction in lines and wrinkles as well as smoother, more even-toned skin. Treated spots such as moles will fade or disappear.

Is There Any Downtime with Plasma IQ™?
You may have some soreness or tenderness after treatment. This can last up to a week but should not keep you from your usual activities. You will also have small carbon crusts where the arc makes contact with the skin. These will produce a scab, heal, and fall off over the course of a week. You may wish to avoid social activities during this time, but you can engage in any activities you feel comfortable with. Avoid sun exposure while your skin heals since the treated spots are susceptible to UV light.
Am I a Good Candidate for Plasma IQ™?
If you want to see immediate results from a skin-tightening treatment, you may be a good candidate for Plasma IQ™. This treatment is not recommended for skin higher than level IV on the Fitzpatrick scale due to a risk of hyperpigmentation.
