If you’re looking for a flawless complexion – the kind you’ll want to show off in a series of selfies – you may be a good candidate for microneedling treatments.
Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that uses several tiny needles to create micro-channels within subdermal tissue. These microscopic wounds immediately trigger the body’s healing reactions, which create a surge of collagen and elastin production. Some microneedling devices combine needles with radiofrequency energy, which help tighten dermal tissue as the treatment is being performed.
The end result? Thicker, firmer, and younger-looking skin!Ready to try out microneedling for yourself? Here’s what you need to know about microneedling downtime, including what to expect for potential side effects.

What should I expect with microneedling downtime?
The good news – there’s very little downtime associated with microneedling treatments. In fact, most patients can go back to their normal routine after a microneedling session, meaning you may not have to use PTO just to get the skin you’ve always wanted.
Are there any side effects with microneedling?
While downtime is limited, there are side effects that may make you want to schedule your microneedling session on the weekend. Many patients report redness and sensitivity immediately after treatment; some patients see slight bleeding for a few hours after their session.
Those side effects are normal and temporary. To help protect your skin after microneedling – and avoid hyperpigmentation – we recommend wearing sunscreen immediately after each session.
How often should I schedule my microneedling treatment?
While every patient is different, we do recommend that clients schedule their microneedling treatments at least one month apart. This ensures that your skin will be healed and ready for your next session.
