Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty, often known as a ‘nose job’, is a surgical procedure designed to enhance the structure and/or function of your nose. Although rhinoplasty is primarily used as a cosmetic procedure, it can also help correct certain medical conditions. Rhinoplasty is an incredibly customizable procedure. Your nose job can be as subtle or dramatic as you prefer.
How Does It Work?
Before your procedure, you’ll undergo either general anesthesia or a local anesthetic. Dr. Farole will then make tiny incisions that allow him to reshape bone and cartilage. The procedure can take anywhere from 1-4 hours depending on how much work is being done. Once desired results are achieved, the incisions will be meticulously closed to minimize both scarring and healing time.
In most cases, patients are free to go home the same day of their surgery. The most common side effects are swelling and slight bruising. Bruising should subside over the course of a 2-week period. Swelling can take up to a month or more to fully dissipate. Any post-procedure pain can be easily managed with provided pain medication.
Is Rhinoplasty Right for Me?
You may be a good candidate for cosmetic rhinoplasty if you’re unhappy with the size or shape of your nose. Rhinoplasty can alter the tip, width, profile, and nostril size.
Rhinoplasty can also be done to relieve medical concerns. If you have problems breathing naturally, nosebleeds, or a previously broken nose, rhinoplasty may be right for you. During your surgery, a deviated septum can also be corrected.
Patients under the age of 18 will need to provide written consent from a parent or guardian.
How Long Does It Take to See Results?
Some initial results can be seen immediately following your rhinoplasty surgery. However, full results may take upwards of several months to appear. As swelling subsides, the new profile of your nose will slowly become more evident.
The majority of people only require one rhinoplasty surgery in their lifetime. Your natural aging process will have no impact on the overall structure of your nose.
Revision Rhinoplasty
Patients who are not satisfied with their initial rhinoplasty can opt for a revision surgery. As a result of additional scar tissue, revision surgeries are more complex. Dr. Farole is a highly-skilled surgeon that has performed numerous revision surgeries over the years. He’ll work closely with you to give you the nose you’ve always wanted.
