Are you interested in undergoing a facelift procedure, but not sure how long the actual surgery may take?
Listen up: We’ve got the inside scoop on how long the average facelift procedure may take, including when you can expect results from this popular surgery.
How Long Does Facelift Surgery Take?
The truth is that there’s no one set timeframe for how long facelift surgery can take. Some patients may find that their facelift surgery takes as little as two hours; others may find that their surgery takes up to eight hours. The latter example usually occurs when the patient opts to combine their facelift surgery with a neck lift and other related procedures.
Your cosmetic surgeon should provide you with a good idea of how long your facelift procedure may take. Make sure that you have someone to drive you to and from the surgery center. If possible, have the person take the day off from work or daily errands so they can be available in case your surgery finishes sooner than expected.
How Painful is Facelift Surgery?
Facelift surgery itself isn’t painful, as you’ll be placed under general anesthesia and asleep for the surgery. However, you may feel extremely uncomfortable upon waking up. Your facial cosmetic surgeon can help manage any pain or discomfort with prescription medications.

When Will I See Results From My Facelift Surgery?
You’ll begin to see results about four to six weeks after your facelift surgery when most of the swelling dissipates. However, optimal results usually aren’t visible until about six months after the procedure, when most minor swelling is gone.
Results include tighter, firmer-looking skin, with fewer wrinkles and fine lines, lifted eyebrows and eyelids, and an overall youthful appearance.
Dr. Farole performed multiple surgeries on my over the past 12 years. I was in a severe auto accident and my face bones were shattered. Not only was my function of jaw movement severely impaired, but my once attractive face was no longer attractive as it was severely distorted. I was a male face model before my accident. I had to undergo three surgeries over a 3 year period and each time my appearance and function improved to a point where I look like I did before the accident. I am back to fact modeling and my emotional outlook once terrible is bright. Dr. Farole is a master surgeon with meticulous technique and a great reputation. He is also amazingly compassionate as his hospital and office staff. They were able to control my discomfort very nicely and I was off pain medicines within less than a week after my surgeries. I am so happy I was fortunate enough to have him take care of me. I have recommended friends and family to him over the last 12 years for various facial related problems. All of them have been as pleased as I have with his excellent and precise care. MJF
