Am I a Candidate for a Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty, or nose surgery, is a popular surgical procedure, and for good reason. The procedure can not only help patients improve the appearance of their nose aesthetically, but medically as well. Dr. Anthony Farole, a board-certified facial surgeon, customizes rhinoplasty procedures based on each patient’s need. In this article we’ll touch on the three different types of rhinoplasty candidates.

#1: Cosmetic Candidates

Cosmetic rhinoplasty candidates are unhappy with the size and/or shape of their nose. They may have a bump on their nose, or a pronounced profile that does not blend with other facial features. Nose tip, width and even flaring nostrils can all be addressed with rhinoplasty surgery.

#2: Rhinoplasty to Relieve Medical Concerns

Rhinoplasty is often used to treat a broken nose, deviated septum or other unnatural breathing issues, and frequent nosebleeds. Candidates usually have dealt with these problems for a long time and have tried numerous nonsurgical treatment options with little success. A septoplasty can be performed with a rhinoplasty. Septoplasty corrects a deviated septum and improves breathing and snoring and decreases the frequency of sinus infections.

#3: Revision Rhinoplasty

Revision rhinoplasty candidates are unhappy with previous rhinoplasty results. A revision surgery is more complicated than an original because of scar tissue. Dr. Farole is a revision rhinoplasty specialist. He works closely with candidates to ensure they receive a new nose that looks great.

General Candidacy Requirements

Rhinoplasty candidates are usually healthy with no medical conditions or illnesses that could possibly affect results. Candidates who smoke are asked to stop before and after the procedure. Candidates who have a positive attitude and realistic expectations are the most satisfied after the procedure. Scheduling and attending an initial rhinoplasty consultation with Dr. Farole is the definitive way to determine whether a nose job is right for you.

Take the Next Step

Initial rhinoplasty consultations are focused on the patient’s desires and goals. A complete medical history is collected, a physical examination is performed, pictures are taken, and a customized rhinoplasty procedure plan is created.
